KARRINYUP IS LIGHTING UP CHRISTMAS FOR STARLIGHT!
Welcome to Karrinyup’s 2008 Starlight Christmas campaign. For the third year running, Karrinyup is proud to be the official supporter of the Starlight Children’s Foundation of Australia (SCFA) in an effort to put smiles on the faces of seriously ill children and their families this Christmas.
Over the past two years, more than $500,000 has been raised for Starlight through local AMP Capital Shopping Centres. This year, Karrinyup and 13 other participating AMP Capital Shopping Centres across Australia will again work together on a number of unique initiatives to raise money to help grant the wishes of 182 seriously ill children.
Throughout November and December, we’ll be seeking the support of our valued customers to help us achieve our fundraising goal of $300,000 and spread some much needed Christmas joy with those that need it most.
As part of this year’s campaign, we’ve also chosen to feature the story of one Starlight child and their special wish. CLICK HERE to see how Feride became this year’s Starlight Christmas child.

ABOUT STARLIGHT
Starlight brightens the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families all over Australia. They do this by delivering innovative programs that provide a positive distraction from their illness and restore the fun, laughter and joy that serious illness takes away.
The Starlight Wish granting program provides an opportunity for a child to have their own individual dream come true, giving them something truly unique to look forward to, and an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
There are over 600,000 child admissions to Australian hospitals every year and sadly today, Starlight can only reach “1 in 3” of them. Their aim is to raise sufficient funds to enable every child access to their innovative programs wherever they live. Fundraising campaigns such as the Karrinyup Light up Christmas for Starlight campaign are vital in helping Starlight fulfill its goal.
This year, AMP Capital Shopping Centres’ focus was on bringing a fresh and energetic approach to raising money for Starlight with numerous initiatives. Here’s how you can jump on board.
JUMP FOR WISHES AT KARRINYUP AND BE PART OF AUSTRALIAN HISTORY!
Jump for Wishes is the largest simultaneous star jump that will take place at Karrinyup and 10 other participating AMP Capital Shopping Centres across Australia on Saturday 22 November.
On this day, we are looking for people like you – Star Jumpers – who can help to set an Australian record for the largest number of adults and children star jumping at the same time.

Karrinyup Jump for Wishes
Date: Saturday, 22 November
Time: 11.00am (Registration from 9:30am and warm-up at 10:45am)
Cost: $5 registration fee with 100% of proceeds donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Prizes: We will be giving away ten main prizes on the day, some of these include:
- ‘Best dressed’ star jumper
- ‘Best technique’ star jumper
- Jumper that has raised the most money
Prize winners will be judged by a local Starlight child who will be attending on the day.
Other Activities: We will also have a variety of local celebrities and sports personalities to attend and support the day, as well as an appearance by Star Man and Captain Starlight on the day.

‘LET'S LIGHT UP CHRISTMAS FOR STARLIGHT'
This year, AMP Shopping Centres around Australia have an exciting campaign planned for the busy Christmas trading period. Customers, who shop at Karrinyup Shopping Centre, will have the chance to win a $25,000 Shopping Spree or a $500 Gift Voucher as part of the 'Light Up Christmas for Starlight’ campaign, and also have the opportunity to donate money to Starlight Children’s Foundation, via the 'Light Up Christmas for Starlight’ donation envelopes.
The 'Light Up Christmas for Starlight’ donation envelopes will be letterbox dropped to approximately 50,000 households in Karrinyup Shopping Centre’s main trade area on the weekend starting 22 November 2008. In addition, 7,500 donation envelopes will be also distributed in-centre at the Customer Service Desk, Taxi Lounge, Starlight Display and in participating retailers. The donation envelope includes a Starlight story and encourages the customer to donate to the Starlight Children's Foundation.
On the reverse side of the envelope, is the chance for customers to enter their details to win the ‘Light Up Your Christmas' $25,000 Shopping Spree or $500 Gift Voucher.
To donate and enter, customers simply:
1. Collect an entry envelope via the letterbox drop, customer service desk, taxi lounge or from any participating retailer*
2. Place donation money in the envelope and seal, or complete credit card details to make a credit card donation
3. Complete details on the reverse of the envelope to enter the competition to win a $25,000 Shopping Spree or $500 Gift Voucher
4. Place the envelope in the Starlight campaign barrel located at the Starlight Display between Scents and Live at Karrinyup Shopping Centre
*Note:a) Customers are not required to donate money to Starlight Children’s Foundation to be in the draw for $25,000 Shopping Spree
b) The entire entry envelope will go in the same campaign barrel (including donation and competition sections)
c) Customers can request a donation receipt, by selecting the tick box on the credit card section of the envelope.

Karrinyup Shopping Centre will award the first eligible entry randomly drawn, one (1) $500.00 voucher for the centre or $500.00 worth of vouchers from retailers within the centre.
National Prize
The first eligible entry randomly drawn from all Local Prize Winners (from all participating AMP Capital Shopping Centres) will win one (1) $25,000.00 voucher for the participating shopping centre or $25,000.00 worth of vouchers from retailers within the participating shopping centre.

- Can customers enter the $25,000 Shopping Spree competition, without making a donation to Starlight Children’s Foundation? Yes
- Is there a minimum spend to enter? No
- Can staff, their immediate families or contractors enter? No (Immediate family means parents, siblings, spouse, children and grandparents.)
- Can customers under 18 enter? Yes (The prize will be awarded to their legal guardian
- Do customers need to be present for the draw? No
Draw Details
The competition will close at 12noon on Wednesday, 24 December and the winner of the $500 Karrinyup Gift Voucher prizewill be officially drawn at 2pm at the Centre Management office. This entry then goes in the draw (with each other participating AMPCSC winning entry) to win the national $25,000 prize.
The national prize will be drawn at 11am on Wednesday, 7 January 2009 conducted by AMPCSC Head Office.

- Make a Donation – this can be done at Karrinyup Shopping Centre by filling in a Donation Envelope from a participating retailer or from the Starlight Display, filling in your details and popping the envelope into the entry barrel located at the Starlight Display. This could also win you a $500 Karrinyup Gift Voucher and a $25,000 Shopping Spree as part of the ‘Light up Christmas for Starlight’ campaign!
- Have your photo taken with Santa – $1 from every Santa photo package goes directly to Starlight.
- Gift wrapping – you gold coin donation goes directly to Starlight when you get your gifts wrapped at Mulberry’s Cards & Gifts, located just near Karrinyup Centre Court.

OUR LOCAL STARLIGHT CHILD
Karrinyup Starlight Family Story
Ten-year-old Sophie suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Sophie was born premature at 24weeks and as a result suffered brain damage. Sophie's condition is physical Cerebral Palsy and therefore does not affect her mentally; however, Sophie has very little mobility in her legs. At the beginning of the year Sophie underwent multi level surgery in an attempt to gain greater use of her limbs.
During this time Sophie was bedridden for periods and to her amazement Captain Starlight came to the rescue at her bedside bringing a little light long amazement, into those dark days!
Soon enough Sophie was up in the Starlight Express Room sharing the joy with other kids. Sophie's Mum Suzanne said, “Sophie loves the Starlight Express room and especially Captain Starlight!
But it's not just for keeping the kids happy... the room made us all happy at a time when life wasn't so bright."
Sophie is currently deciding on her special Starlight Wish, which will be granted in the next few months.
